In the first quarter of 2007, the Philippine Nazarene Administrative Board (PNAB) has fielded a new National Media Coordinator/Field Communications Coordinator (FCC). She’s Rev. Viollydia Lartec, based at La Trinidad Benguet, in the Northern part of the Philippines. She replaced Rev. Wilfredo “Jun” Suyat who moved on to new ministry responsibilities.

Rev. Lartec’s goal under the World Mission Communications-Philippines is to facilitate the Philippine field communications network in order to create evangelism opportunities and in order to produce media resources (equipped media ministers, Christ-like stewards, and theologically grounded as well as culturally relevant media materials) available in the local churches to use as a means in bringing the gospel message across and assimilating people into a local church. She prays to have a great part in reaching the tribal people through radio and literature ministries.

For Rev. Lartec, education is very important as a Minister of God. She finished the Bachelor of Theology at the Luzon Nazarene Bible College (LNBC) in 1992, and Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at the University of the Cordilleras in 1998. She pursued her Masters in English as a Second Language at the Benguet State University in 2005. That same time, she had taken some units in Development Communication in the same University. At present, Rev. Lartec is pursuing her Ph.D. in Language Education at the Saint Louis University.

Ate Violly, as many fondly calls her, is one busy lady minister. While working currently as the new National Media Coordinator or FCC, she is also involved with LNBC as the adviser for the school paper entitled “Pine Breeze” as well as the College Secretary and the Resident Director for Ladies’ Dorm for the same Nazarene school.

Included in her ministry experience is serving as senior pastor of Mayag Church in Mt. Province where she established and directed the Nazarene Child Center with linkage to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development office.  When she went back to school to pursue her studies while working, her pastoral assignments included being a youth pastor at Baguio Central Church of the Nazarene in 1996, Senior Pastor of in 1999; Community Affairs Pastor of the College Church in 2001; and a pastor of the Pines City Church of the Nazarene in 2002.

She has been a local television newscaster and a production supervisor also of the news and current affairs of the Mountainview Cable Network in 1998. She shifted to teaching college students at the Baguio Arts Theological College in 1999, and LNBC in 2000 as Instructor of English courses, with special assignment as an interim Librarian in 2001, and External Affairs Officer at the same time.
