Have you heard of the lines; “I’m alive, alert, awake, enthusiastic”…and loud? World Mission Communications Asia-Pacific (WMC-AP) has a new face with such mascot-like characteristics, in the person of Ricky Hurtado. He jumped right in the ministry WMC-AP of as internet designer and developer last February 2006.
Kidding aside though, this young man (at least in his physical appearance) is deep. While he is identified as one of the funniest guy in their church, he is very serious in his relationship with Jesus Christ and in his work at WMC-AP.
He’s a big part of the organization’s portfolio of website designs including WMC-AP’s own website, World Team Philippines, True Love Waits, and Asia Pacific NYI.
Ricky is also a youth leader at Taytay First Church of the Nazarene (TFCN) wherein he conducts Bible studies and cell groups inside and outside the church. He is also a part of church worship team, choir, and is lead guitarist of R.O.C.K. (Reaching Out for Christ the King).
Aside from this, Ricky is also involved in another ministry - the LightwareLink, a graphics design and website development company and a lot more... Ricky’s vision is to reach out more young people not only in Taytay but in different places in the Philippines through the talents and gifts God has entrusted him especially in computer and rock music.
Ricky was a multimedia and computer programming instructor at Informatics International College at Brickroad, Cainta, Rizal prior to joining the WMC-AP team. He assists in developing web sites for WMC-AP and other external web related projects. His training background came initially from Meralco Foundation, a leading short-term course institution in the Philippines. Afterwards, inching his way in the corporate world, he gained experience and more technical training related to the field from different companies. He is adept in most programming languages like PHP, Macromedia Flash, and XHTML. Design softwares like Photoshop, Corel, and Swift are familiar turfs also. Added to that are some database softwares like MySQL and Oracle that he can also toy with.
Catch Ricky at his favorite hang-out. He loves to spend time at the church and at PGIF (Praise God It’s Friday) after working here at WMC. There, he ministers to young people and teaches others on playing musical instruments. You can also send him an email through: ricky@wmc-ap.org.
