In February, six women from Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary attended the Anne Graham Lotz International Revival in the Philippines. Good praise & worship music began the event. Anne Graham Lotz was the keynote speaker of the day. In the morning her message was evangelistic, focusing on the passion of Christ in great narrative style. She wove Christ's story with our stories. In calling for commitment thousands responded. The afternoon included a workshop on Bible encourage and urge the women to read the word for themselves. Her inductive methodology is simple, asking the reader three questions:
She led the crowd of over 20,000 through these steps with a supplied Bible text from Luke 9:10-17. The crowd formed small groups across the coliseum to discuss the lessons found in the text.
The late afternoon message focused on personal commitment and sanctification. At one point she shared what had spoken to her: "Though God expects failure from us, He gives us His Holy Spirit so we will NOT fail." The response was a call to surrender ourselves to God.
According to APNTS Christian Education Professor, Rovina Hatcher, "The event was a beneficial day for our women ministers, as we were able to discuss the theology, the preaching style and points of the messages that spoke to each of us."
Anne Graham
Lotz's personal testimony was an encouragment to all the participants. Though she is from a Baptist background that forbids women to preach, she
experienced God's call and has continued to respond to that call for the past 30 years now; taking the
message specifically to women. Her organization trains Bible study leaders in
churches in the locations where they conduct events so that the women who respond will be
able to grow in their faith through attending inductive Bible studies.
