Congratulations Irwin for recently qualifying in the auditions for the Musikhero music camp!

Last month, our very own Irwin Galino -- a SWAP (Student Work Assistance Program) student at WM Communication’s audio department -- and NYI friends from the Metro Manila District auditioned at the Trinoma (Triangle North Mall) in Quezon City, Philippines for the Musichero Ultimate Music Camp. The top 25 players for drums, bass, and guitar categories were selected and sent up to Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines, for the three-day music camp at Hotel Elizabeth from September 30 to October 2.   The event organizers, JB Music & Sports Inc. and Valenciano Syndicate Creative picked up the tab for all the winning musicians, including their round trip transportation, room and board, including some special giveaways from JB Music.

Irwin was selected to be one of the 25 participants in the bass guitar category. The winning  musicians trained, jammed, and rocked in Baguio under the tutelage of musikheros -- Philippine legendary musicians like Joey Pepe Smith, Jun Lupito, Jun Regalado, Mike Alba, and top band artists.

The organizers said that, “It’s a rocking weekend hanging out with the country’s top Pinoy rockers & music legends”.

Top students from drums, guitars, and bass were awarded with a new drum set, new guitars, and other related giveaways respectively.  After the camp, they were given the opportunity to form a band that is tasked to compose original materials and rehearse a list of song covers.

In the end, the best of the 25 best will be JB Music’s newest endorsers and will rock it out live in UK’s London International Music Fest in 2008… PINOY STYLE, according to the organizers.

Even though Irwin was not selected as the top player in the bass category, he said the music camp was an overwhelming experience (and a great opportunity to shine for Christ) that he will not be able to forget in his lifetime!
