Inaugural WMC-AP Video Conference

We all know that teleconferencing is a reality in the business world where multi-national corporations invest millions of dollars into elite technology and dedicated staff to manage and maintain such services. Many of us in our ministries or smaller organizations, however, find the finances and expert staff needed to develop and run such a system unattainable. WM Communications Asia Pacific is here to say, "Those days are over!"

Within our organization we have staff and directors located around the world. This creates an ever present need to quickly communication as virtual teams or to remotely collaborate on media projects. We have recently installed and tested consumer level hardware and software that fulfills this need.

Yesterday (August 8th, 2006) we conducted our first video conference between our Manila based staff and our Director in Singapore. We met for our monthly 2.5 hour staff meeting and it was surprisingly "glitch free." While many high-end video conference systems are available on the market today we were able to achieve similar results utilizing high-speed internet lines, consumer Apple laptops, consumer DV camcorders, and Apple’s iChat AV software.

As most organizations, just like WMC-AP, find themselves in a changing global climate where teams are becoming more and more virtual we just wanted to thank God for helping us make these transitions work.
