Story submitted by Rev. Daniel Ekka, a Papua New Guinean pastor and co-coordinator for the video training in PNG,
Ben, ‘Welkam bek long ples wantaim meri bilong yu’ (Welcome back home with your wife) was the greeting words he received from the twelve people who come for the video training.

Participants posing for a group photo.
Twelve energetic, interested people had come for the Video Training. The training was supposed to be for two days, 8th to the 9th of January 2009 but junior Vern Ward had added another day to neatly finish of what he had planned for us. The training was an eye opener for us because the manner in which junior Vern Ward presented the lessons was well explained in our very own daily Papua New Guinean tokples (language) ‘Pidgin’. We realize that we have lots of stories to tell other Christians friends around our region (Asia Pacific) or the world of what the Lord is doing in Papua New Guinea especially using the visual form. It was God’s perfect time that the Regional Communication Office has send the right servant to show us the way on how to go about it. We praise God for that.

God send his servants Vern Ward IV and his wife Rachael from the Asia Pacific Regional Communication Office at the right time. Papua New Guinea has drastically changed in terms of television signal going to many towns and cities of the country and even almost covering the eighty- nine (89) government districts. At the moment there is some kind of feasibility studies going on in the country to put a Christian television by a Christian Organization. More than three quarters of the population seem to have video screens and DVD players. Nearly in almost every houseline (or tribe) there is a public video house for the general public to pay some little bit of money to watch movies. This is the reason why I am saying God’s timing is perfect

Theory time is over now is the time to practice what has been taught. A story has written and acted out using digital camera.
After the three days video workshop we were ignited by the Spirit of God to write stories (scripts) and put into practice what we have been taught.
Here are comments from the twelve people:
“I am glad to be part of three days short seminar on communications. This is a new thing in my life and in ministry as well. It is kind of an eye opening thing and I wish if we could take a month or two to really catch up with new skills. Although I have other responsibilities and even that I had to be part of, I don’t regret. I really enjoyed part of this seminar. This seminar also motivates me to buy both digital and video camera as tools for me to use in communicating the message of hope.” Rev. Peter Kui.
“Thank you for inviting me to be in this very special seminar. I have learnt a lot in this short period of time. To deal with video, audio and many more I was so interested to be part and parcel to this. Furthermore, being in such seminar it’s an answer to some of prayer. I would like to thank God for this opportunity that he had given me.” Rev. Allan Kembis.
“The training was so helpful to me. I learned many things, which I never know even though I own and used video camera on special occasions.” Rev. Asiak Wai.I Ken Karpal comment, “It was really an inspiration seminar on Video with Ben Ward who was send to us by the Regional Communication Office, accompanied by his wife Rachel. This area was untouched and prolonged. In the due time we this course ever. Praise the Lord for He is good all the time.”
“The training has been worthwhile. I am a poet and writer. I have received valuable information. Now putting it in to practice is the next step. Regular training, workshops and in services needs to be given.” Rev. Daniel Tarp Goma.
“The video training was very good. I learnt a lot about basic skills I needed was given and I am very happy. I think in the near future we must establish our own studio to produce CDS, DVDS, etc. We must show our interest by putting into practice what we have learned.” Junias Andrias.
“This has been a wonderful experience me to be involved in a new venture. This has been my wish for almost three years. I am so glad that a new door has opened for my ministry. It is my prayer that God will enable and empower me with additional insights so that I will be better equipped to extend His Kingdom with the use of modern equipment in the information technology in the years to come.” Rev. Kuwil Mond.
We would like to have more of video training in the future with junior Vern Ward. God has gifted him with good presentation skills. Thank you for the Regional Communication Office of Asia Pacific to fly Ben and Rachel to us. Our prayer is that we must practice what we have learnt for the three days.
