WordPress: Simple Blog Tool

What is a "blog"? Blog is an abbreviated version of "weblog," which is a term used to describe web sites that maintain an ongoing chronicle of information. A blog is a frequently updated, personal website featuring diary-type commentary and links to articles or other Web sites. Blogs range from the personal, spiritual, to the political, and can focus on one narrow subject or a whole range of subjects.

One of the most commonly used blog applications available in the Internet is the "WordPress".  WordPress is one such advanced blogging tool and it provides a rich set of features. WordPress Plug-ins

Another interesting feature of WordPress is the "plugin" or additional application to be uploaded in /wp-content/plugins/ directory (usualy found in root directory of your site)  and activated through the WP's admin page to add various content to your blogsite.

WordPress Themes

Fundamentally, the WordPress Theme system is a way to "skin" your weblog. Yet, it is more than just a "skin." Skinning your site implies that only the design is changed. WordPress Themes can provide much more control over the look and presentation of the material on your website.

WP themes are uploaded in /wp-content/themes/ directory and can be selected through WP's admin page as default. You can also use a Theme Switcher plugin that allows your readers to switch among installed themes. This is for temporary session only. Once a certain user closes and re-opens the Internet browser, the default theme defined by the admin of the blog site will be used instead.
