As the death toll mounts in Myanmar, remember that the rural areas effected were some of the least reached people on earth with the gospel. Over 10 million people live in the effected areas. The ethnic Burmese people in Myanmar are less than .1% Christian so the disaster is indeed heartbreaking.
I could not help but weep and pray as I heard the latest death toll which now stands at over 40,000 according to radio reports coming out of Myanmar. Pray that aid will reach the the survivors soon. Pray for the Christian aid groups that are trying to get permission to enter the country. And Pray for those who already have ministry there and need to resupply their local aid workers.

Please pray for our friends and ministry partners within Myanmar. Pray also
that the Lord will help us know how to best minister in Myanmar in the
aftermath of the cyclone Nargis disaster. I have been traveling to Myanmar over the past 7 years and have been in some of the areas now effected. Most of those spoken of in my last newsletter came from these hard hit areas. I have not heard from them at this point.
The rains generated by the storm system have reached Cambodia, (where I am today) and has caused flooding in the streets of Phnom Penh. We drove through a foot of water to get back from our training site today. (see attached photo) Pray for the 14 pastors and leaders involved in our Cambodia training. Pray that the Lord will bless their vision and efforts to reach all of Cambodia with the Good News of Christ. Disasters like the one in Myanmar remind us all that we should work even more quickly to spread the gospel, especially in parts of the world where the need is so great.
