Summary

World Mission Communications Asia Pacific (WMC-AP) is a ministry of the Church of the Nazarene endeavoring to communicate the message of the gospel to the world “by all means possible.” By resourcing the Church of the Nazarene and other partnering ministries, organizations, and agencies with creative communications media including video, audio, print, and multimedia productions we are seeing this vision becoming a reality.

Our graphic designers are vital members of the WMC-AP team. They provide creative inspiration and development for all New Media projects including print, multimedia, and web development. The New Media department also is responsible for emerging communication technologies including cellular and mobile web content development. It is through these new forms of communication media that we see the largest growth in our industry. It is also in these areas that we foresee the greatest potential for communication with billions throughout Asia Pacific.

The position requires knowledge of graphic design for a wide range of uses. These include print design and layout, logo creation, corporate identity development, compelling presentation (powerpoint) design and development, web design and development, user interface design, and more.

The ideal candidate will posses strong creative skills paired with technical expertise in the digital implementation of their designs. Experience or training in fine arts, interior design, and/or advertising is a bonus

Key requirements include:
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Mass Communications, Web Development (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Portfolio of past work

 

Duties

Graphic Designers at WMC-AP are responsible to working with the Director of New Media or the Director of WMC-AP in the production of New Media projects.

New Media projects include:

  • Website Development
  • Multimedia Presentations such as PowerPoint
  • New Technology projects such as SMS and mobile internet
  • Animation for video and web
  • Graphic Design
  • Print Media

Each Graphic Designer will be expected to bring their own creative input to each project. Our New Media team thrives on the creativity we share. Ultimately all designs and layouts are directed and approved by the creative director (either the Director of New Media or Director of WMC-AP)

Each Graphic Designer will work closely with the Director of New Media and the Director of WMC-AP on their daily and weekly project assignments. These project assignments will be based on the project schedule of the New Media Department.

Each Graphic Designer will be expected to maintain an ever growing knowledge of Graphic Design and New Media production. WMC-AP will expect that each designer will be seeking out continuing education, seminars, tutorials, and online research. Expenses for any continuing education related to your work with WMC-AP will be provided when pre-approved by the Director of New Media or Director of WMC-AP

 

Qualifications:

To qualify for the Graphic Designer position you must meet the following criteria:

  • Previous work experience or on the job training (OJT) in a design related field.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of computer systems.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Dreamweaver)
  • Knowledge of website development and/or programming (HTML, CSS, PHP, ASP)
  • Must be an active member of a Christian church.
  • Must have the ability to work well with individuals from different cultures.
  • Must have the ability to commute or travel to work in a timely manner.
  • Must not hold any other full-time position.
