The choices we make today affect someone else’s choices in the future. Hi this is Doug Flemming encouraging wise choices for today and tomorrow on this edition of Take Five. This five minute break of music and message is brought to you by the Church if the Nazarene. Send me your comments and suggestions to radio@wmc-ap.org. I have a good friend who is really suffering right now because of some choices made in the past. The problem is they were not choices that he made. They were choices made by his parents. Apparently, his folk’s marriage was on the rocks, so they separated. Then on top of all that, his dad made some unwise investments and lost most of the family business. Then to make things worse, my friend’s dad chose to move to another country. So now my friend is stuck with his parents struggling business and their old house. It just doesn’t seem fair. But you know what? I admire my friend’s attitude. He is faithfully handling the responsibilities in addition to his own work, and he’s not complaining. Instead, he keeps on praying for his parents and their situation. And through it all, he’s learning a lesson for his future. In fact, just yesterday he said, “When I have children of my own, I’m goin to make sure that my decisions don’t mess up their lives.” Words of wisdom from a young man who has learned from experience that a parents’ choices today really do affect the choices of the next generation. So, parents make sure you are choosing wisely.

Today’s Song: Choose Life, Big Tent Revival

Music of choice on Take Five.  In this article Holiness today, Dr. James Diehl reminds parents that God has given us the incredible power of choice. The book of Deuteronomy says : “See I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. Love the Lord your God, walk in His ways, and keep His commandments… that you may live” Those choices are being made today by everyone of us. Choices between good and evil, life and death, right and wrong. And God’s counsel to us is the same as it was long ago: “therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live.” Parents, make choices today that will bring life and hope to your children tomorrow.

  1. This is a big challenge as a dad. I always want my decisions to reflect exactly what God has in mind so my family does not suffer from my mistakes
