Program Notes or Transcript

For the next five minutes, stop what you’re doing…and look at your hands!  That’s right your hands.  Are they dependable, reliable, honest, hard working hands?  Hi this is Doug Flemming your handy man for this edition of Take Five.  Five minutes of inspiration, brought to you by the Church of the Nazarene. A friend of mine, Joe, spins tops.  Little tops, big tops, tops of every shape and size.  He is an expert top spinner.  In Joe’s hands, the tops spin beautifully and do whatever he wants them to do.  I’ve tried to spin Joe’s tops and gave up after a few tries.  The top would spin for Joe, but not for me.  What made the difference?  It was the touch of the master’s hands.  A recent email reminds me of this fact in a variety of ways: A basketball in my hands is worth about $19. A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million. It depends on whose hands it's in.  A tennis racket is useless in my hands. A tennis racket in Venue Williams' hands is a Championship Winning.  It depends on whose hands it's in.  A stick in my hands might beat off stray dogs, but stick in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea. It depends on whose hands it's in.  A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy. A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.  It depends on whose hands it's in.  Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread Jesus' hands will feed thousands.  It all depends on whose hands it's in.  With nails in my hands I might build a house, but with nails in Christ's hands he bought salvation for the entire world.  It all depends whose hands it's in.

Today’s Music: In Your Hands, Sonicflood

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in. So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands because…His hands are strong, reliable, trustworthy and yet so gentle…his hands can do the impossible. If our lives are in God’s hands, if we are living in right relationship with Him, then we can claim the promise of Psalm 139, no matter where you are, no matter what you’re going through God’s hand will guide me, His right hand will hold you.  Put your life in the master’s hands today.
