Program Notes or Transcript

They say laughter is medicine for the soul. Well, today on Take Five, I’ll share with you some humor that could very well heal you from spiritual apathy…Hi, this is Doug Flemming, your host for Take Five…a production of the Church of the Nazarene.  If you have a humorous story that you’d like to share with Take Five listeners, please send me your story to Radio@wmc-ap.org.

Funny how $20 looks so big when we take it to church and so small when we spent playing golf, fishing, or playing cards. Funny how difficult it is to read a chapter in the Bible and how easy it is to read 2-300 pages of a best selling novel. Funny how we believe what newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how we can’t think of anything to say when we pray and don’t have any difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend. Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust it for a social event at the last minute.  Funny, isn’t it?  Hmmm…I’ll be back with some more serious comments right after this tune from Take 5.

Today’s Music: Cartoons, Chris Rice

Your back with Doug Flemming on Take Five…if you’re like me, you probably got a few chuckles out of that riddle I just read…and maybe because your laughing at yourself. We’ve all been guilty of placing greater priority on the physical, material things of life than on the spiritual. However, when we really think about, God’s word challenges those worldly priorities. In Colossians, we are told to “set your hearts on things above, not on earthly things…” Friend, God wants us to know how important the spiritual, eternal things are. Maybe, He’s trying to get your attention today to get your priorities back in line with His. After all, it won’t be very funny in the end, if we neglect our relationship with God. Set aside some quality time today, to spend with your Lord. For Take Five, I’m Doug Flemming saying may God bless you and keep your priorities straight.
