The phrase thank you has incredible power to make us feel that our efforts are worth something. My heart melts when my children say (Thank you, daddy). I love to hear those words. Maybe that’s why scripture instructs us to “Give thanks in everything.” Good day, Doug Flemming here, thankful that you can join me for the next five minutes on Take Five….from the Church of the Nazarene, thanks for tuning in! I’ve got an inspiring story of gratitude coming up after this inspiring song of thanks….all on Take Five.Today’s Music: Thank You Lord, The Katinas
Mother Theresa relates another story about gratitude. One evening, her ministry team in Calcutta picked up four people from the street. One of homeless was in the most terrible condition. The sisters did all they could do to help the woman. They put her in bed and tucked her in. She had a beautiful smile on her face. She took hold of Mother Theresa’s hand and said only two words. “Thank You.” Then she died.
If I were in her place, what would I have said? Would I have tried to draw attention to myself… “I’m hungry, I’m in pain, I am dying… But this poor woman gave much more, she gave here grateful love. And she died with a smile on her face.
Gratitude brings a smile and becomes a gift. Count your blessing today and let everyone know just how grateful you are.
