Every Friday, the malls, bars and night spots near my home are filled with people who seem to be craving for companionship. Hi, this is Doug Flemming, your companion on the air, for the next five minutes of music and message on Take Five. Keep me company with your emails and texts. Write to radio@wmc-ap.org. Take Five is brought to you by the Church of the Nazarene. It's not just the people in my city who seem to be longing for meaningful relationships. This companionship crisis is everywhere. One Indian company is capitalizing on people's loneliness, and their business is booming. The Best Guests Company usually caters to hosts who fear they will not have guests at their parties. So they rent guests for parties and events. The hired guests wear traditional clothing or smart western clothing according to the hosts requirements. The hired guests try to impress with their best etiquette without letting anyone know that they are being paid for it. They are also informed by the company about the hosts before the event so as to avoid awkward situations. The owner of the company said they are successful because so many families are breaking up. And this lack of affection among relatives creates a demand for paid guests. Friend, where do you turn for true companionship?
Today's Song: Last Day On Earth, by Steven Curtis Chapman
Music amongst friends, on Take Five. So, have you ever felt like you needed to buy friends or guests, to cover up for the emptiness inside your heart? You don't have to. Start with those closest to you. Connect with relatives and friends and rebuild relationships. And you don't have to frequent the bars and night spots in order to do that. An everyday situation at home can be maximized to connect with them. When was the last time you greeted your loved ones good morning or treated them out for lunch, or walked with them in the park? Or simply called them or texted them? Small gestures can go a long way in creating true companionship. And friend, even your Heavenly Father longs for a meaningful relationship with you. He is always knocking on the door of your heart. Make time for real relationships with God, family and friends.
