Program Notes or Transcript

You have probably heard of Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis), but have you ever tasted it or seen it?  Hi this is Doug Flemming, your fruit farmer today on Take Five, inviting you to taste some flavorful music and thought on this edition of Take Five, produced by the Church of the Nazarene.  Despite the fact that Passion fruit flourishes in many of the tropical areas in our region most of us have probably not eaten much passion fruit, and many don’t even know what it looks like.  Could the same thing be said about your life?  Do people know what you are passionate about?  Can they see or experience the fruit of your labors? Now I realize that the secular definition of passion often refers to sensuality, but today let me stress another meaning.  According to the Encarta® World English Dictionary pas·sion (n) may be defined as an “intense or overpowering emotion…a keen interest in a particular subject…or the object of somebody’s intense enthusiasm.” If used as a proper noun, Pas·sion denotes “the sufferings of Jesus Christ from the Last Supper until his crucifixion…or any of the accounts of the Passion in the Gospel.” In a real sense, if you are a Christian the Passion of Christ should be the source of your passion. It should be the driving force of your life, work and ministry. So friend, what are you passionate about?

Today’s Music: I Could Sing Of Your Love, Passion

The Apostle Paul was a passionate guy.  He wrote in his second letter to the Corinthians, “Christ's love compels us.…We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (just listen to those passionate words) Paul’s passion for evangelism was based on his passion for Christ. I pray that this same driving force will be evident in your life.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about, or if you feel that you need a reason to live, please contact us and we’d love to help you find new excitement, new passion for your life and work.  May God bless you and fill you with His love and passion.
