Program Notes or Transcript

Are you a success on the job and in the home?  If not, you can be!  Hi this is Doug Flemming with some tips towards success, today on Take Five.  Take Five is brought to you by the Church of the Nazarene and this station.   Last time on Take Five I introduced to you a Fortune 500 executive, Mr. Pat Gelsinger, the chief technology officer for Intel.  If you’d like to read his full profile you can go online to www.charismanews.com or www.newmanmagazine.com and look at the March/April issue.  Gelsinger was a rising star in the Intel company, having been named the youngest group vice president in company history.  But at the age of thirty he realized that his priorities were out of balance, and so he made this commitment: “"I will be a Christian husband, family man and then a businessman. I will use every resource God provides me to carry out His work on earth."  According to Gelsinger, "Many Christian men are motivated to be successful in their businesses, but this drive for success does not carry over into their family life?" For instance, one day you are leaving work at 5 p.m. and before too long you add a few minutes a week, and soon you are getting home at 7 p.m. and often taking work home with you. Gelsinger has discovered his life is only in balance when he covers three distinct areas of his life. Join me to learn those three areas, after this song……

Today’s Music: Every Move I Make, Out of Eden

Okay, if you want to be successful both at home and on the job, then here are three keys to consider.   First, put God in control of your life. Psalm 40 says “Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn aside to false gods.”  Then, secondly, give priority to your family.  Gelsinger who has been married for 21 years and has four kids says we must start at home to be a living witness for Jesus Christ. Finally, you have to be a great employee and excellent at your job.  When these three areas are in balance, then Gelsinger feels confident to let his Christianity show in the workplace, knowing that his life and work will honor God.  Friend, I urge you to begin practicing these three keys, and you too will be on your way to Godly success.
