Did you know that the world’s tallest man, is still growing? It’s true, and I’ll tell you more about his story today on Take Five. But the real question I want to ask of you is this: are YOU still growing? Hi this is Doug Flemming with tape measurer in hand, today on Take Five, brought to you by the Church of the Nazarene and this station. Leonid Stadnik on Ukraine has recently been discovered to be the world’s tallest man. Stadnik stands at at 8 foot 4 inches or 2.5 meters tall, and doctors say that this 33-year-old, 400 pound man is still growing. His growth spurt began at age 14 after a brain operation affected his pituitary gland. It is possible that Stadnik may surpass the world record height of 2.7 meters. Not only is Stadnik growing vertically, but with the recent media exposure, he is also expanding his worldview. Through the generosity of strangers, Stadnik has visited Germany, has been exposed to new foods and cultures. Other people were moved by his story to donate an oversize bed and a 17-inch pair of shoes. He has returned to his small country village with new energy and motivation to help others. Friend, you may be discontent with your height. Perhaps you’d like to grow a few more inches. Or maybe you would like to stop growing…in weight. Whatever your physical condition, the most important thing is that you never stop growing in spirit.Today’s Music: Shine On Us, Phillips, Craig and Dean
St. Peter tells us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” God’s grace is like the rain or sunshine or soil that provide an environment for a plant to grow. It’s a free gift from God. But we have to receive it. Are you thirsty for God’s grace and blessings? Then put yourself in fertile soil, in a place where you can receive God’s grace. Then, seek more and more knowledge from God’s word, from fellow Christians, from your church. And then as you allow God’s grace to flow and as you seek more knowledge, then you need to bloom wherever God plants you.
