Practice makes perfect or so my coaches used to say… but if that is true, why do so few of us practice the most important things is life? Stay with me today for this edition of Take Five as we do some target practice. A good day to you, I’m Doug Flemming your companion on Take Five, compliments of the Church of the Nazarene. I’d like to know if I’m reaching my target…YOU…the listener. Is Take Five meeting a need? Is it inspiring to you? Or would you like to see some changes, adjustments or editions. If so just contact me and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request. My email is radio@wmc-ap.org. Today, I invite you to learn from the wonders of nature. Could it be possible for a fish to hunt for its food on dry land? The answer is, yes, and the hunter is called an archer fish. If you’re fortunate, you may have even seen one of these amazing creatures because they inhabit tropical waters throughout the Pacific. And just like an archer with a bow and arrow, archerfish can shoot water up to five meters in search of a target. In fact, they are accurate enough to hit a ladybug two meters away. However, archerfish do not shoot insects from birth. Their aim is terrible and they can’t shoot far enough, but through practice they develop strength and accuracy. Friend, are you practicing and improving in the really important areas of life?Today’s Music: Center of the Mark, 4 Him
Friend lets learn from the archerfish. In any pursuit, whether it’s business, education, music or sports or relationship with God, if we fail to practice, we get sloppy and don’t generally reach our goals. St. Paul encourages Timothy to study in order that he might be an approved workman, one who correctly understands God’s Word. If you want to succeed, then focus on preparing yourself properly to hit your mark. Until next time keep on practicing and perfecting the things that really matter most.
