Do you know who wrote these lines?

“Two roads diverged in wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference”.

This author went unnoticed for most of his life. Yet today this now famous poet can teach something about overcoming failure. Good day Doug Flemming your companion for the next five minutes on Take Five a production of the Church of the Nazarene.

If you feel like a failure, be encouraged by the following story. For more than 20 years, Robert Frost was considered a failure by friends, neighbors and publishers. Robert Frost was 39 years old before he was able to sell his first volume of poetry. For 20 long years, his writing was constantly rejected yet he kept on composing poems and submitting his work. Finally his perseverance paid off. Today he towers as one of America’s greatest poets. His poems have been published in 22 different languages. One volume alone has sold over a million copies. Frost was a four-time winner of the coveted Pulitzer Prize poetry and he received more honorary degrees than any other writer. Now how is Robert Frost able to overcome 20 years of failure? Psychiatrist Dr. George Crane recently listed vesicle stamina as one of the key ingredients necessary for greatness. Many people do not reach the peak of their life goals until quite late in life and therefore, endurance is necessary. Friend perhaps you have felt like a failure. Be encouraged, don’t give up, life is not over in Christ today can be a brand new start towards success.

Today’s Music: I Run, Forty Days

What is true in the physical realm is also true in the spiritual life. To become what God wants us to be there must be spiritual endurance. This quality is called patience in the Bible and is listed as a fruit to the spirit. Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial. Because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life God has promised to those who love Him. Friend when life gets tough it helps to have a spiritual family to support us. If you don’t have a local church, please contact me and I’ll put you in touch with a good church near you. Until next time, persevere even in a midst of trial. May God bless you!
