How do athletics and the physical body relate to human relationships? Stay tuned to Take Five and you’ll find out.
Hello, it’s another great day for Take Five, and I am Doug Flemming your host. Take Five is a production of the Church of the Nazarene. What comes to your mind when I say the letters “A.C.L”? If you’re an athlete, those three letters can cause nightmares. ACL is the medical abbreviation for the anterior cruciate ligament, which holds the knee together. And severe ACL injuries have ended many athletics careers. In fact, a year ago I tore my ACL in a basketball game and had to have surgery, and I’m still not 100%. But why are ligaments so important? A ligament is a tough band of fibrous tissues that supports and connects the joints. Without ligaments, the body would be nothing more than a pile of skin, bones and muscle. If our ligaments are weak or injured we are physically limited in what we can do. In the same way, relationships require strong bonds that can withstand stress. And there is nothing stronger than the bond of genuine love. For that reason, we should focus on developing a spirit of love which holds all things together in perfect unity.
Today’s Music: Love Won’t Leave You, Point of Grace
Friends, if you want to perform well as an athlete, exercise and protect your ligaments, but if you want success in family, business and community relationships exercise the ligament of love. Until next time, my God bless you and keep you exercising your ligament of love.
