Are you feeling lost? Trying to make a decision and not sure which way to go? We’ve all been there, and believe me, your situation is not hopeless. Hi this is Doug Flemming offering direction today as we trek the trail of life on this edition of Take Five. On one of my backpacking adventures in Yosemite, I got separated from my group and spent most of the day hiking alone. I didn’t mind at first because I was confident that I new the way to our next campsite. Besides, I was enjoying time alone with God with His beautiful creation all around me, enjoying time alone with God. But as the day wore on and night began to fall, I became a little worried. It was becoming harder to see the trail markers and I was beginning to get hungry and cold. I was sure I had followed the right path, but by this time it should have already led me to camp. Finally I came upon another group of hikers and asked them for directions to my campsite. They laughed and said I had walked several kilometers out of the way. They pointed across a lake to another group of campers, huddled around a nice warm fire and said that is your group over there! I shouted across the lake to the campers and sure enough it was my group. I had to hike all the way back around to the other side of the lake, six kilometers farther than necessary. You see, earlier in the day, I had come to a fork in the path. There were trail markers along the way but I failed to see them. Rather than waiting for my group, or asking for directions I chose to go the way I felt was right. In the end, my way was wrong. Friend, are you on the right path today?Today’s Music: Where He Leads Me, Twila Paris
There are times in each of our lives when we face difficult decisions. The outcome of your choice could mean the difference between success and failure, pleasure or pain, even life or death. Perhaps you are at a crossroads right now. You don’t have to decide on your own. God is waiting for you to ask him for directions. Jeremiah 6:16This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for tested paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Friend that’s a promise you can count on. Enjoy the journey.
