RSS/Atom Feeds

What is a feed, what is RSS? Good questions. This video will help!

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and provides an easy way to receive news updates from websites you subscribe to. So in essence you don't need to revisit those sites for updates because the updates come to you. Getting set up can be done in 2 steps

Step 1: Picking an RSS Reader
You'll need a news aggregator also called an RSS reader, which will check all of your favorite feeds (includes ours) and will inform you if new content has arrived.

Yahoo!, NewsGator, and Bloglines are online RSS reader services that works in most browsers, so you eliminate the need for downloading an application. If you use Firefox you can download an extension called Sage so that you can read the news directly in your browser.

Mac users can use Safari RSS or other applications like NetNewsWire (our favorite), NewsGator, NewsFire, NewsMacPro and PulpFiction.

Windows users can use FeedDemon, NewsGator, RSS Bandit, SharpReader and FeedReader.

Step 2: Subscribing to the feed
Once you have a RSS reader set up we invite you to subscribe to any of the feeds we offer through this site. Each reader handles new subscriptions differently but you should right-click and choose "copy shortcut" or "copy link location" then launch your RSS reader and create a new subscription from our feed location.

Would you like to syndicate the WMC-AP feed content on your site? Please drop us a line.

Podcasts

Contrary to popular belief, and even though the name implies the requirement of an iPod, you actually don't need an iPod to subscribe to podcasts. All you need is a computer, some software, and an internet connection. Here's how to do it:

Step One: Install iTunes

iTunes is a music program, yes, but it's also designed to receive podcasts. The latest version of iTunes is available directly from Apple's website. iTunes is a free download and is available for both Mac and PC.

Step Two: Subscribe

Next you must subscribe to one of our podcast. All you have to do is click one of the available podcast links (in the in the column to the right) and iTunes will launch and go directly to our podcast profile. Click the "subscribe" button to subscribe to the podcast.

Step Three: Receive Episodes

As soon as you've successfully subscribed, the latest episode will automatically begin downloading and you will see any previous episodes listed (but greyed out). Please allow some time for the download, since the file size can be large depending on episode length. After it is complete, you may begin listening to the message.

If you'd like to download previous episodes, simply hit the "get" button next to their name.

Step Four: Sync

Once you have any of our episodes downloaded into iTunes you can store them to your media player exactly as you do with other audio content.

Happy podcasting!
